WHAT ARE THE TOP 5 PRIORITIES FOR THE YORKE AND MID NORTH REGION?

Dear Business / Community representatives

WHAT ARE THE TOP 5 PRIORITIES FOR THE YORKE AND MID NORTH REGION?

Regional Development Australia (RDA) Yorke and Mid North is seeking your input into the focus of RDA activities for the next 12 months.

We are keen to hear from key stakeholders in the community relating to key priorities for the region.  As part of this exercise you may have also been contacted by one of our other staff members and we apologise for any cross- posting.

Your  input will feed into the RDA’s ‘regional roadmap’ which provides a profile of the region including socio-economic data, business, industry and workforce information and issues of community concern.  In 2011 the RDA will conduct an extensive consultation across the region using a variety of methods to engage a broad cross section of the community, including public forums, surveys, electronic tools and individual meetings to ensure all can have their say.  At this stage we are seeking your initial views on what you believe are the top 5 priorities are for the region.

The priorities that you may wish to include can be across a broad range of areas.  You can utilise the list below or you can provide your feedback in any other form that clearly indicates your ‘top 5 priorities’.  You can also focus on specific geographic areas within the region if you wish.

Brief Background of the RDA Yorke & Mid North

RDA Yorke & Mid North is a newly established organisation (February 2010) following the amalgamation of the previous Regional Development Boards Mid North, Southern Flinders and Yorke.  The RDA’s geographic coverage now includes 11 Council areas from Clare to Yorke Peninsula and surrounds.  RDA seeks to develop the region’s economic, social and cultural capital while ensuring regional sustainability.  It does this in partnership with the 11 councils in the Yorke and Mid North region in addition to federal and state government and industry partners plus community and business stakeholders.

The RDA’s role in progressing and prospering  the region spans across a range of areas from employment, industry attraction and investment, business development to sustained population growth, tourism related efforts, to community and cultural development and social inclusion initiatives.
RDA’s mandate includes:
·         supporting informed regional planning;
·         consulting and engaging with stakeholders to identify and resolve critical issues;
·         liaising with local governments and local communities about the best, most appropriate programs and services to support         regional development; and
·         contributing to business growth and investment plans, environmental solutions and social inclusion strategies
