Investment Opportunities
The Mid North is well-suited for value-added development. There is potential for crops such as canola and linseed to be processed locally. Olives and carobs are two crops new to the region which could also be processed locally. The food industry is a sleeping giant in the region, with great potential for more diverse, intensive horticultural activity.
More than 3,000 hectares are already under vines with a large proportion of the wine being produced locally but bottled under contract away from the region. Provision of a contract bottling plant within the region could be a feasible venture.
The Clare Valley could be the site of a wine-tourism centre as a further extension to its wine and tourism markets. Family-based tourism attractions are needed - for example, a theme park.
