The South Australia Works initiative brings together learning, training and employment services to ensure all South Australians have the opportunity to develop work skills and get a job.  The initiative focuses on seven priority areas:

  • Public Sector
  • Communities

People who face significant barriers in accessing training and employment are provided with more and better opportunities to participate in learning, skill development, training and employment.

2005-06 Achievements

The Rage Cage

In 2005-06, through South Australia Works, 28 757 people participated in learning and work programs and 7,374 people gained employment:

          • 3,870 young people participated in learning and work programs and 1,706 gained employment
          • of 5,020 mature aged people who participated in initiatives, 1,087 gained employment
          • of 1,402 Indigenous people, 395 gained employment
          • of 7,682 people in regions, 2,852 gained employment
          • 600 people commenced a public sector traineeship, apprenticeship or cadetship
          • 3,599 trainees and apprentices were supported in Group Training, including 1,620 new commencements
          • 8,500 people participated in Adult Community Education and
          • 506 retrenched workers gained alternative employment.
